Spiritual Gardening

St Martin-on-the-Hill, Scarborough, 2019

Spiritual Gardening reflects in time the history and memory of Miss Mary Craven. References to her life are combined with the symbolism of the Pre-Raphaelites and religious icons, particularly
St Dorothea, the patron saint of brides, florists and gardeners.

At the heart of this work is a study of nature and how through seeking experiences with the natural world, such as gardening, we immerse ourselves in a deep-rooted cultural or spiritual place of connection.
